Since we're going to be referring to the baby as Pu*pae from this point till birth (and maybe longer), I suppose it would be good to tell the story now...
We decided, as you've read, that we want to be surprised about the baby's sex. So, early in the pregnancy, we talked about what to call the baby instead of saying "it" or "baby." Mind you, this conversation happened at 3ish in the morning, and we were both deliriously tired and slap-happy... I was in my first trimester, and not feeling too hot, so I jokingly suggested "Poo-pay," since that's how the baby was making me feel. We laughed hysterically at how funny it would be to tell people that was our baby's nickname. To be honest, we never made it past that name. For some reason it seemed like the right name for the babe. Chris came up with the great spelling. And so Pu*pae was "born."
This would be a good time to also tell you what we plan on naming Pu*pae when s/he is born...
